Lilas Blano, a French artist born in 1965. After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Reims, she briefly worked in advertising and animated film in London, Montpellier, and Luxembourg before setting up her studio in Reims to devote herself entirely to painting.
Blano is renowned for her contemporary figurative style, capturing a playful and rebellious femininity. Her vibrant works feature women in exuberant colors and shapes reminiscent of childhood cutouts. She describes her creative process as follows:
“Mistakes and reversals are always welcome, as they bring richness, spontaneity, and life“
The viewer’s eye is seduced by this extravagant grammar with no apparent rules. By freeing their essence through bold outlines, her compositions—enriched with geometric and floral motifs—reveal her subjects in oil paint.
Today, she is evolving toward a new artistic expression, exploring synthetic and geometric rhythms, and new color harmonies, creating modern symphonies where her young women blend into deconstructed environments, always infused with light and femininity.
Having moved through several distinct artistic periods, Lilas Blano has exhibited her work in galleries in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United States, and Luxembourg, attracting a growing number of admirers of her instinctive, singular, and vibrant art. In May 2022, Womankind, an international art magazine, featured an article/interview, inviting readers into her artistic universe.
